Lost & Found
An ongoing studio project that aims to create a graphic snapshot of the world's cities. The collection is built up by photographing and refining found typography, iconography and symbols. It acts as a bank of inspiration for the studio and a new way to analyse and appreciate cultures.
Nepal has a Rich and intense graphic language. Beautiful hand-drawn signs and painted advertisements cover buildings in the more rural areas, whereas cheaply printed mass manufactured fonts infect the urban districts.
Beer companies pay for signage in return for real estate on billboards. Big recurring players including Kishan Watertanks and AC Industries. A myriad of hotel, bar, restaurant, and spa promotions mix with Buddist and Hindu symbolism.
Amidst the spice markets and tightly packed bazars,
both official markings and hand drawn scrawling litter the walls.
